“As a physician and a person of faith, I believe it’s time to rethink how we value life in America.”
Pro-Life? Try Medicare for All
The Hill. Dr. Paul Song. July 3, 2019
In this op-ed, Dr. Paul Song discusses the contradictory values in the pro-life movement which prioritizes the restriction of health care to women while U.S. infant and maternal mortality rates remain unnecessarily high compared to other developed countries.
In reality, our failing health-care system is not pro-life. As Americans of faith, we are called upon to care for one another as a moral imperative.
As Matthew 10:8 states: “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy…Freely you have received; freely give.”
Dr. Paul Song, M.D., is the president of Physicians for a National Health Program-California. He is also a board-certified radiation oncologist.
HEAL California’s Op-Ed project aims to elevate the voices of those seeking a healthcare system that works for everyone.
