High Court Allows Employers To Opt Out Of ACA’s Mandate On Birth Control Coverage

When the Affordable Care Act guaranteed that the cost of contraception would be covered by health insurance, it was a great relief to many American women who for decades had balanced the cost of preventing pregnancy against other essential expenses like rent and food. With this ruling, not only has the Supreme Court exempted from the requirement employers who hold religious objections to the use of birth control, the court has exempted employers who hold “moral” objections.
