[fancy_heading h1=”0″ icon=”icon-lamp” style=”arrows” title=”Form 1095 proves to the IRS that you had health insurance”]The forms you receive depend on where you got your insurance. If you got a new job or moved or got laid off, and had to change your insurance, you may receive multiple forms. Of course, if we had Medicare for All, none of this would be necessary![/fancy_heading]
[fancy_heading h1=”0″ icon=”icon-lamp” style=”arrows” title=”Form 1095-A (Marketplace)”]will be sent by Covered California (or another exchange) if that’s where you got your health insurance. You must have this form to file your income taxes if you got insurance from Covered California for any part of 2015.[/fancy_heading]
[fancy_heading h1=”0″ icon=”icon-lamp” style=”arrows” title=”Form 1095-B (Health Coverage)”]is the most common form and it applies if you got your health insurance from your work, from Medicare/Medi-Cal, or the Veterans Administration.
This form also applies if you got an individual or family plan directly from an insurance company (not Covered California). While you do not need to have this form to file your income taxes, you should get a copy and review it for accuracy. Errors could result in your getting a penalty for not having insurance. [fancy_heading h1=”0″ icon=”icon-lamp” style=”arrows” title=”Form 1095-C (Employer-Provided Health Insurance)”]applies only if your employer has more than 50 employees and is required by law to offer health insurance to you. This form really only proves that your employer complied with the law by offering the insurance. Your employer will send out this form.
With Medicare for All, your treatment needs are between you and your doctor. Period.[/fancy_heading]
