Patients who delay seeking medical care for fear of catching coronavirus can end up in the hospital anyway, but in worse condition and with worse outcomes. This is also true for patients who delay seeking medical care because they can’t afford to buy health insurance, or they can’t afford to use the health insurance they have. Unfortunately, this article attributes all postponed care to “fear of the coronavirus.” Americans have been postponing care due to cost for decades. We ask, how many of the tens of millions of Americans who have been laid off and lost their health insurance due to the pandemic are postponing care due to fear – not of coronavirus but of cost.  — The HEAL Team
