Los Angeles, CA — Just one year after Senator Bernie Sanders became the sole public U.S. Senate supporter of Medicare for All, 15 prominent U.S. Senators and 2020 presidential candidate contenders, including California’s Kamala Harris, co-sponsored the newest Medicare for All legislation today.

In response to today’s Medicare for All bill introduction, California OneCare & HEAL California Executive Director Andrew McGuire released the following statement in response to today’s bill introduction:

“We are thrilled to see 15 U.S. Senators and nearly every known 2020 Democratic presidential contender sign on to support Medicare for All today.

“Our corporate health insurance system is expensive, wasteful, and dehumanizing for millions of Americans who struggle to maintain dignity in the face of illness. These corporations are raking in billions of dollars a year in profits that we could be using to provide better care.

“Medicare for All is the future, and that future starts here in California with a state model to lead the country with public health care that is affordable, reliable, and promotes innovation and entrepreneurship across our great state.”
