Jayapal’s Medicare for All Act of 2019 is significantly broader than the Sanders’ Medicare for All Act of 2017 because it includes long-term care coverage. It also projects a two-year, rather than four-year, rollout.

Los Angeles, CA – On Wednesday, February 27, 2019 Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) introduced a new Medicare-for-All bill in Congress. The bill, which has over 100 co-sponsors, will eliminate financial barriers to treatment while guaranteeing comprehensive health care to every U.S. resident. By controlling administrative costs – something the Affordable Care Act failed to do – every American family and business will benefit.
In response to the new Medicare-for-All bill, California OneCare and HEAL California Chair Don Schroeder released the following statement:
“With the introduction of this new bill, our country has another chance to get health care right. Our current corporate health insurance system is expensive, wasteful, and dehumanizing for millions of Americans who continue struggling to afford necessary treatment.
“Medicare for All is the future, and that future starts with public health care that is affordable, reliable, and promotes innovation and entrepreneurship across our great nation.
